Who is Dr Jackson
Dr. Thomas Jackson joined the Computer Science Department at Loughborough University in January 2002, after completing a PhD on the ‘Cost Effectiveness of Electronic Communication’.
Since 2002, Dr. Jackson has secured over £500,000 of research funding from EPSRC (Case for New Academics), Knowledge Transfer Partnership (formerly TCS), and industrial companies (Rolls-Royce and AstraZeneca)
and is currently supervising five PhD students and has published
numerous research papers. He joined
the Information
Science Department as a Senior
Lecturer at Loughborough
University in February 2006 where he is
continuing to undertake his research
outlined on this web site.
He is an active member of the Loughborough University Knowledge Management Research Group, which comprises thirty academics from Computer Science, Information Science, Human Sciences, Business School, Civil Engineering, and Aeronautics. The group conducts research and consultancy in the areas of Knowledge Management tools and systems, human resources, organisational learning, culture, strategies, communities of practice, and intellectual capital.
Research undertaken since 1998 has examined some of the tangible costs of using email in the workplace and has focused on improving the effectiveness of employees using email systems.
Dr Jackson is on the editorial review board of three international journals: Journal of E-commerce in Organisations, International Journal of Cases on Electronic Commerce and Information Resources Management Journal. He is a member of the International Editorial Review Board of the Software Quality Management Conference, and the Information Resources Management Association. He has also been a track chair for the International Conference of Software Quality Management, the International Conference of Empirical Assessment of Software Engineering and the International Conference of Information Resources Management on numerous occasions.
Other Interests
In 1999 I ran the London Marathon for the Pre-Eclampsia Charity raising over £1,000. I would like to thank everyone for their support.
